Last FIA WTCR call in Malaysia for the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veoloce TCR by Romeo Ferraris
Time has come for the last event of the season for Team Mulsanne and the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR by Romeo Ferraris. This weekend, at Sepang, Malaysia, the 2019 FIA WTCR will come to a close after a long journey, which started ten months ago with the collective test at Barcelona before going around the globe for an exciting race campaign. Almost at the eve of the Christmas break, the last round will see a night race, the first in the WTCR after Qatar 2016, a feature that in the past has seen the cars by Romeo Ferraris shine in the dark in 2017, when the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR raced at Singapore and won in Bahrain, in the framework of the F.1 Grand Prixs.
The round at Sepang International Circuit will again provide a peculiar format, already seen earlier this year at the Slovakia Ring (where Team Mulsanne took one win), as the FIA WTCR will share again the programme with the EWC, the Endurance World Championship for motorbikes, also promoted by Eurosport. There will be many reasons to follow the action at Sepang apart from the decisive battle for the Drivers’ and Teams’ titles, including the battle for 15th between the two Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR by Romeo Ferraris of Kevin Ceccon and Ma Qing Hua, who are tied-up with 133 points. In the Teams’ standings, Team Mulsanne is seventh after the podium finishes conquered by Ceccon at Macau, ahead of the Audi and Cupra teams and not far from the Volkswagen one.
Michela Cerruti, Romeo Ferraris Operations Manager
“We come from some intense days, with the announcement of our Giulia ETCR project and the preparation of the last FIA WTCR round. The Malaysian track, with its long straights and fast corners, is one where our cars can best express their potential, but our rivals will not make any present, especially those who are fighting for the titles. We can anticipate three very closely-fought races. This, together with the night conditions and the expected rain falls, will certainly offer a show worth watching on TV. At Vila Real, Ningbo, Macao and Suzuka, we have always been very competitive in Q2, and we aim at achieving that objective this weekend too, and possibly, doing even better, in order to finish the season on a very positive note”.
