The Giulia ETCR by Romeo Ferraris has performed its first track tests at Vallelunga. Following the successful installation of the battery last week, Romeo Ferraris went to the track near Rome on 22-24 March for the first track test with the new project carried out by the Opera-based constructor. First at the wheel was Mario Ferraris, the technical director and tester of the project, then followed by Stefano Coletti, the first driver announced for the 2021 season of the PURE ETCR. There were a lot of things to discover for the crews of the Lombard carmaker, starting from how to recharge the Enel X-supported electric car. During the 3-day session organized by WSC ahead of the PURE ETCR series-opener, which will take place on the same track on 20th May, were simulated also wet race conditions, in order to gather all data useful for the car’s development. Present at the test were also personnel from Williams Advanced Engineering and Magelec. The tests will continue next week, again at Vallelunga. This week, a total of 250 km were covered, with speeds reaching 271km/h, and using also the 500 kw foreseen in the most powerful mapping configuration allowed by the regulation.

Michela Cerruti, Romeo Ferraris Operations Manager “The Vallelunga test has been the first action activity this year and we are very happy with what achieved. There were a lot of question marks, but we have had positive feedback which is a great reward for all the work done at the factory over the last two years. To see the Giulia ETCR running on the track has been a moving moment, but what really matters is the positive feedback given by Mario and Stefano, who have been at the wheel of the car. Now, I am anxious too to test it! The staff of our racing department has worked very well in a new environment and following procedures never implemented before, which represents an excellent training ahead of the next steps.”
