Another great week-end for the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR by Romeo Ferraris

It has been another meaningful weekend for the cars built by Romeo Ferraris. At the ‘Green Hell’, in the fifth round of the FIA WTCR, the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR have shown their reliability, conquering the first points on the mythical Nordschleife for the Italian constructor in recent history. In an event with a format completely reshuffled to adapt to the Nürburgring 24 Hours event, both Kevin Ceccon and Ma Qing Hua were able to collect points. In Race-3, the Italian, despite starting from P21 after a difficult qualifying where he had to discover the track in wet conditions, managed to climb back up to 11th. Also, the Chinese driver put on a positive charge, finishing 13th from last on the grid. A 5-second penalty for a contact with an Audi did not prevent to bring 7 points to Mulsanne Racing, who keeps 10th position in the standings, with 116 points.

At Sugo, instead, came the first win for the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR by Romeo Ferraris in the TCR Japan. The Giulietta had already clinched in the country of the Rising Sun its first-ever WTCR win, last year at Suzuka. This time, success was narrowly missed in Race-1, because of a spin, but in Race-2, Shuji Maejima took victory with a faultless race. The other Giulietta driven by “Mototino” also concluded in the top-10. Less lucky was the outing at Imola in the TCR Italy, with Max Mugelli retired in Race-1 but a good 6th in Race-2.

“This has been another weekend where the hard work done by the team has found its reward. The toughest challenge was certainly the Nordschleife’s FIA WTCR round, where our drivers not only were able to avoid any incident, contrarily to what seen in the past, but brought both cars into the points. It was not easy and the rain during qualifying further changed the cards on the table. We would have certainly been more competitive on a dry track, but changing conditions are part of the variables and of the fun of racing at the Nordschleife. In Japan, we have lived our first success in the TCR Japan, which adds to those in China, America and Australia, and puts again our cars at the very top. It’s nice that this happens close to 24th of June, a date that marks the 109th anniversary of Alfa Romeo, the brand that we have chosen since the beginning of our involvement in TCR, and that is an indisputable reference in automotive and motorsports”.
