The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veoloce TCR by Romeo Ferraris wraps up the 2019 FIA WTCR season with a podium finish

The 2019 season of Team Mulsanne in the FIA WTCR ended with a brilliant second in Race-3 in Malaysia. The Italian squad that fields two Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR by Romeo Ferraris in the top global series for touring cars has conquered a fourth podium finish in the last five rounds of the series, confirming the cars built at Opera among the best on the TCR scene. Kevin Ceccon, who started from P7 in the grid after an excellent qualifying, climbed up to third spot on the rain-soaked track, celebrating the achievement in the podium. Later in the night, P3 became a final P2, after a penalty inflicted on another competitor in that last race of the year.

The outcome of the weekend could have been even better if the weather conditions hadn’t completely reshuffled things, forcing Ceccon and Ma Qing Hua out of the points in Race-1. Having opted for full wet tires on a track that was not completely wet despite the rain, the Team Mulsanne drivers slid out of the points positions. Race-2 was even more hectic: Ma started from the pole in the inverted grid but remained blocked in the pit-lane during a tire change as the race was red-flagged at the end of lap 1 to allow rescuing a car on fire. Ceccon was fifth and all the points conquered allowed Team Mulsanne to finish seventh in the Teams’ standings with 297 points.

Participating to the FIA WTCR alongside Mulsanne for the second year in a row, our constant growth and support to customer teams and the launch of the Giulia ETCR project have kept us busy day and night, providing a lot of dreams but also a lot of responsibilities! We have harvested a win, two starts from pole, two fastest laps and nine podium finishes, making it regularly to Q2 in the second part of the season. These are incredible results considering where this program started from four years ago. Now, we’ll enjoy a short but well-deserved break, but we will be back fully fit and motivated for new exciting challenges in 2020″.
