The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR by Romeo Ferraris head to Portugal

The schedule continues to be busy for the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR by Romeo Ferraris, and Team Mulsanne is back in action this weekend for the round that marks the half-season turn in the 2019 FIA WTCR and is also the last round in Europe. The streets of Vila Real, the lovely city in Northern Portugal, are ready to welcome the WTCR cars in what is always one of the most complex outings of the season. Vila Real is a street circuit, as Marrakesh earlier in the season, but contrarily to the Moroccan track, it has fast corners and a very long straight that make the exercise much more challenging. Moreover, the races feature the ‘Joker Lap’, this is the possibility for drivers to chose (only once during each race) an alternative track path to increase the chances of overtaking. Last year, Vila Real was also the scenery of one of the biggest, although innocuous, pile-ups in modern motorsports, which proved how spectacular and incident-prone the track can be. Among the side promotional activities has been included a baby foot tournament, which will allow to see again in action Kevin Ceccon, who has often played in the Nazionale Piloti football team in the past.

“We could enjoy a one-week break, which was necessary to recharge batteries. This will be an important round, as it is the last one on our continent before the cars depart for the long Asian tour. We got out of the Nordschleife unscathed, bringing home some valuable points, and exactly as in Germany, Vila Real represents a question mark for the new Veloce restyling and for Kevin, who has never raced there. On his side, Qing Hua has the necessary experience of the track to be able to find the limit straight away, and the event format spanning over three days should allow us to work thoroughly”.
