The season of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR by Romeo Ferraris in the innovative WTCR Trophy kicks-off with a double podium finish. Team Mulsanne has shone in the successful opening round of the world’s reference series for touring car racing held in Belgium, with its two cars entrusted to Jean-Karl Vernay and Luca Filippi, who have defended the colors of the Opera-based constructor in the 22-car field. The Frenchman, who thanks to P9 in Qualifying 2 has started from first row in the inverted grid of Race 1, has conquered a 5th and 7th, which yielded him 20 points and P8 in the overall standings.

Vernay is also entered in the WTCR Trophy, where he has conquered a second and a third, totaling 13 points. The weekend has instead been marked by an unfortunate mistake in qualifying for Luca Filippi, who despite being a ‘transparent’ wild card, has impressed with great and determined overtakes, although he started from the back of the grid. The Italian did not notice the call to the weighting station during qualifying, which resulted in the cancellation of his lap times. All in all, an excellent start of its third season in the world’s top touring car series for the Italian squad.

Michela Cerruti, Romeo Ferraris Operations Manager
“I was happy to see again in action our cars on such a prestigious stage, and I am also happy to see racing resuming after such a long break. This is an important sign for motorsport and also for our company, which wants to be close to its customers around the world. Jean-Karl and Luca have been up to the challenge at this global level. Of course, there were few minor hiccups that I believe are normal after a forced stop for everybody that has been going on for almost one year. I am pleased with the team’s response and it has been a good test as the next round, at the Nordschleife, will be one of the most challenging.”
