The 2019 season in the TC America, the main touring car series in the US, started on the right foot for the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR by Romeo Ferraris. The season-opener at Austin last weekend allowed to shone the car entered by Risi Competizione, the Houston-based team known for its many successes in GT, and driven by James Walker Jr, who are partnering in this project.

Among a 25-car rich entry, Walker took an excellent third on the wet in qualifying, securing a spot in second row for Race-1. The New-Yorker then finished 6th in the opening race, taking 4th in Race 2 and missing the podium by 0.5 seconds and finishing strongly after a spin in the early phases, posting also the fastest lap in 2’20″909. All that confirmed the potential of the car developed and built at Opera.

Risi Competizione and Walker are full-season contenders in the TC America that will end on 20 October at Las Vegas. The next round is scheduled this coming weekend, on the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida, in the framework of the IndyCar event.

Michela Cerruti, Romeo Ferraris Operations Manager
“We are very happy of the first results conquered in the TC America. Risi Competizione was delivered the Alfa Romeo Giulietta TCR less than two weeks ahead of the start of the season, and still, the car has proven competitive. Having signed the fastest lap in Race 2 is very encouraging. We congratulate the team and James Walker Jr, who have been able to showcase their great expertise in a category new to them. We are anxious to continue the positive trend as from the forthcoming round in the streets of St.Petersburg, while we prepare for the other series where the Giulietta TCR developed by Romeo Ferraris will be present, including the world’s TCR series”.
