Romeo Ferraris celebrates its first victory of 2022 in the FIA ETCR, the fully electric touring car championship: on his home track in Zolder, Maxime Martin won the honors of "King of the Weekend" at the wheel of the Giulia ETCR, obtaining the greatest number of points among all the drivers at the start of this round and also winning the DHL Super Final of the "Furious" pool.

For the Belgian, however, this event had started uphill, due to a problem with the battery that prevented him from competing in the two free practice sessions on Friday. Despite this preparation disadvantage, Martin's recovery came right from Saturday's qualifying, signing the best lap time in 1.35.858 and then going on to win Quarter Final 1, Semi-Final 1 and the final heat in which he started ahead of everyone, scoring the maximum 100 points.

For Romeo Ferraris, the triumph adds to that achieved in the Copenhagen stage of the 2021 edition, when the series was still called PURE ETCR, and stems after only one podium obtained by a non-Cupra competitor (Martin in Budapest) in the previous three stages of the 2022 calendar.

Bruno Spengler, included in the "Fast" pool, put together a total of 41 points with the success in Semi-Final 2, while in the same group Giovanni Venturini won the Quarter Finals 2, right in front of the Canadian, and finished fifth in the DHL Super Final, reaching 40 points. Luca Filippi, with Martin in the "Furious" pool, scored the third qualifying time and after facing Quarter Final 1 and Semi-Final 2, he crossed the finish line of the final in fifth position.

Thanks to this weekend, Romeo Ferraris maintains the second position in the constructors' ranking with 523 points, and Maxime Martin climbs third among the drivers at 300 points, recovering important ground in the chase for the title. Spengler is now sixth at 223 points, Venturini tenth at 155 and Filippi eleventh at 97.

The next round the FIA ETCR will be on stage at home in Italy, on the Vallelunga track on 22-24 July.

Michela Cerruti, Team Principal Romeo Ferraris
"I am very happy for the victory obtained this weekend, the first of the 2022 season. On the eve of the weekend, we were confident that we could fight at least for the podium, but together with Maxime we exceeded the expectations, reaching the title of" King of the Weekend ". Everything has an even more special taste thinking about the technical problems, independent from our responsibility, we had during the weekend and the fact that Zolder is Martin’s home track. Now, we can celebrate, with the awareness that the Giulia ETCR project has great potential and the constant development work is bearing its fruits. Bruno, Giovanni and Luca have also fought well during the whole weekend, and I am confident to see them compete for important results in the next Vallelunga event. We will be at our home and have a further boost to be ahead ".
