The second round of the PURE ETCR is upon us with the round that will take place in Spain this weekend, at the Motorland Aragón circuit. A place of  sweet memories for Romeo Ferraris, who returns after winning the last Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR victory in 2020 and winning the WTCR Trophy title as well as third place in the drivers’ standings.

Continuity starts with the drivers, as Luca Filippi, who was last year one of the racers of Team Mulsanne, collected in the inaugural round of the PURE ETCR at Vallelunga the highest number of points with the Giulia ETCR by Romeo Ferraris, and is now fifth in the standings with 56 points, preceding the rookie Rodrigo Baptista, who earned 43 points.

Their teammates will be called to recovery at the Iberian round: in Italy, both Stefano Coletti and Oliver Webb could not materialize in the races their good performance.  They are respectively tenth, with 22 points, and eighth, with 36 points.

The innovative event format seen in Italy will apply again, with the draw of the groups to take place on Thursday evening, then free practice on Friday and the direct duels on Saturday, up to the double final which will see all the cars on track on Sunday, with live coverage by Eurosport and on the social networks of the championship.

“The Motorland track has a special meaning for us, as it is where we officially presented our car last year. The memory of so much work and efforts ahead of the launch of the car at this track, and the prospect of returning there with two cars eight months later, after positive race debut at Vallelunga, is very touching.  We have proved in a very short time that we were able to fight against two manufacturers who are real giants, even if we lack concrete knowledge of the circuit. In fact, the other cars have already been able to test here during the winter, while we were still waiting for the integration of the battery, which took place late due to the logistical delays caused by the Covid-19 pandemic. This is why it will be very important to take advantage of every single minute of action on the track to try to bridge the experience gap with our rivals. The hot weather variable will be very important in Alcañiz, but we have already seen how, in Vallelunga, these cars respond well to very demanding weather conditions”.
