It was a great journey to Budapest for Romeo Ferraris: in the second round of the 2022 FIA ETCR, the manufacturer based in Opera, near Milan, collected 155 points for the Teams’ rankings, managing to demonstrate its potential after the unfortunate episodes suffered in the season-opener at Pau. Maxime Martin finished on the third step of the podium, crowning on a hype a weekend spent at the wheel of the Giulia ETCR, and winning the DHL Super Final of the "Fast" pool. The Belgian driver totaled 78 points, which are added to the 77 of his teammate Bruno Spengler included in the "Furious" pool.

Fifth in qualifying, Martin began his climb by winning the Quarter Finals 2, so as to earn the graduation to Semi Final 1, where he finished in second position. In the final heat, Maxime managed to get the best of it thanks to an excellent start, while his teammate Giovanni Venturini finished third in the Quarter Final 2, characterized therefore by a double Romeo Ferraris, and after having imposed himself in the Semi Final 2.

Spengler, in the "Furious" pool, qualified second with a time of 1: 54.906, to then win both the Quarter Final 1 and the Semi Final 1, and after battling at the top of his DHL Super Final, he crossed the finish line in third position.

Luca Filippi was also in action with the Canadian, but on lap 3 the Piedmont driver was involved in a contact with Jean-Karl Vernay. Although at a reduced pace, Filippi managed to stay on track and reach the checkered flag, seizing the fifth position and the corresponsing points for the drivers' classification. Luca too had been the author of a weekend in progression up until then, between Saturday's qualifying and the following heats.

Thanks to the results at the Hungaroring, Romeo Ferraris is confirmed second in the team championship with 272 points. Among the drivers, Spengler climbs fourth to 138, while Martin advances to 134, Venturini to 85 and Filippi to 50. The next round of the electric touring car series is scheduled for this weekend (17-19 June)  at the Jarama track in Spain.

Michela Cerruti, Romeo Ferraris Team Principal
"Here in Budapest we were not the winners, but we can be satisfied thanks to a weekend with a more linear trend than in Pau. Also for this reason, we were able to really show the level of competitiveness of the Giulia ETCR and our drivers. Maxime went on to win the DHL Super Final of the Fast pool, even if starting from a non-optimal qualifying position, but also Bruno and Giovanni had the satisfaction of winning heats. Luca would have deserved more, but it was again unfortunate to be involved in a collision in the final. The Jarama round is already around the corner, because we will be back to racing next weekend, but we hope to be able to repair the damage to the car thanks to the efforts of our talented mechanics. In the meantime, we have a few days to analyze the data and work to present ourselves even stronger in Spain".
