Romeo Ferraris is delighted to announce that Luca Filippi will be one of its drivers in the 2021 PURE ETCR. The expert Italian will race with one of the Giulia ETCR by Romeo Ferraris alongside the already announced Stefano Coletti in the championship that kicks-off on 18-20 June at Vallelunga. The Roman track is the same where the new electric racing car of the Opera-based constructor performed its first track tests last March.

Filippi has vast experience with electric motorsport, having taken part in the 2017-2018 edition of Formula E that he currently follows as a TV commentator and consultant. Luca has already driven the ETCR by Romeo Ferraris in a first test, ahead of preparations for the forthcoming commitments in his already long and diversified career.

Filippi won the Formula 3000 Italia title in 2005, before climbing up to GP2, where he was a runner-up in the 2009-2010 Asia Series and in the 2011 Main Series, having among his rivals his new teammate Coletti. In 2008 he has been an official F1 tester for Honda, while between 2013 and 2016 he has regularly raced in IndyCar, in America. In-between, Luca has also gained experience with GT and Touring cars.

Romeo Ferraris and Filippi will thus continue the positive cooperation initiated in the 2020 FIA WTCR, where the 35-year-old from  Mondovì has contested four events at the wheel of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR by Romeo Ferraris entered by Team Mulsanne.

Michela Cerruti, Romeo Ferraris Operations Manager
“We are very happy to have in our line-up for the PURE ETCR 2021 programme a driver with great experience and who is already familiar with electric cars. This too has been a decisive factor in our choice, together with the good relationship established last year in the FIA WTCR. Luca has already given us useful indications on the Giulia ETCR that we will use in the weeks, ahead of the first round at Vallelunga, where we will debut with two high-profile drivers”.
