Team Mulsanne scored a fabulous result in the penultimate round of FIA WTCR at Macau, on the iconic circuit in the streets of Guia. The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR by Romeo Ferraris conquered the podium in two of the three races scheduled, missing narrowly pole position in the first qualifying with Kevin Ceccon, who took the points of the two podium finishes and of the 9th position in Race-3. This brings the Italian team fielding the cars built at Opera to the seventh position in the overall standings, with 266 points, ahead of squads fielding Audi and Cupra cars.

The Alfa Romeo Giulietta Veloce TCR by Romeo Ferraris proved to be among the most competitive cars of the field, passing the Q2 shootout for the fourth time in a row, after Portugal, China and Japan. The double podium of last weekend rewards the squad for losing a podium finish in Japan after receiving a 5-second penalty following a contact, a misfortune that left some bitterness in the entire team. The weekend could have been even more successful if Ma Qing Hua, at the wheel of the other car of Team Mulsanne, hadn’t seen his efforts ruined by a red flag in qualifying.

Forced to start from the back of the grid in Race-1 because of two five-position penalties earned in free practice, the Chinese climbed back to the points zone, but was forced to retirement after a contact. Both drivers are 15th in the Drivers’ standings, with 133 points.

Michela Cerruti, Romeo Ferraris Operations Manager
“If I take a moment to reflect on what we have achieved so far, I get moved… This project was born almost as a bet at the dawn of the TCR era and also our involvement in the world series last year was a daring choice, not bound to success on the paper. Against all odds, we have achieved podiums, wins and pole positions. We repeated the achievements this year, and this double podium at Macau legitimates the great work of research and development done by our guys at the factory and the support work on track for our customers. Looking at the overall standings ahead the final round at Sepang, I can only be happy and proud to see we are ahead brands such as Audi and Cupra”.
